Houston Chapter

Board of Directors Meeting Minutes for February 2007 (103KB, PDF)

Over 6 years ago, a group of young professionals in Houston formed YTAC to make a difference in the fight against cancer and to be part of the growing need for funding, education, and volunteer hours that make a difference in this fight. Since then, every YTAC member has played a key role in growing YTAC into what it has become today. A consistent flow of new leadership and driven members has led the charge from year to year. Through our efforts, we have given the organization the strength to increase membership, recruit effective board members, and start our 2nd chapter in Austin.

In 2003, the YTAC board established a five year plan to ensure continued long-term growth and outreach while still maintaining the week-to-week duties of running a successful non-profit charity. One of the key goals from that five year plan was the addition of a 2nd YTAC chapter. After several offers from organized groups in other cities we chose Austin to be the home of our next chapter. The Austin Chapter formed officially in January of 2007 and has 48 Founding Members and a Board of Directors consisting of eight leaders. They had their first membership drive this Spring and signed up over 100 new members.

Because YTAC does not have a parent organization, we rely heavily on our members to continue to help create awareness of YTAC in our Texas communities. This unique trait is one of the aspects of our organization we are all very proud of. As we continue to grow, we appreciate all the support we receive from our young professional members as well as the corporations and individual donors who are dedicated to the same cause that drives us so passionately. As we continue to work together, we are looking forward to the future success and expansion of YTAC in Texas!
