2006 Charity Selection
On Thursday, January 18, 2006, YTAC hosted its fourth annual donation ceremony at the home of YTAC founding member, Ryan Gordon. The ceremony was designed to "unveil" the year's charitable organization recipient to YTAC members and donors. This event is also a way for YTAC to show our appreciation to all of our donors and annual, lifetime and founding members, and to thank them for their participation and generosity.
This year, for the first time since YTAC's inception, a single charitable organization was chosen by the members of the Charity Selection Committee to receive YTAC's entire donation. The Charity Selection Committee members chose to research several small and mid-sized local charities. They made contacts with the various organizations and collected information about the organizations. Once the data had been collected, the Committee was presented the information about the respective charities and then voted on the recipient of this year's donation. From the Committee vote came YTAC's largest annual donation recipient to date -- THE PERIWINKLE FOUNDATION was this year's recipient of a $20,000 donation from YTAC.
By contributing our entire allocable donation to only one charitable recipient, YTAC is able to make a significant impact in the lives of children and families that receive services from the Periwinkle Foundation. YTAC is pleased to provide support to The Periwinkle Foundation in their mission of “developing and providing programs that enrich the lives of children with cancer”. The Periwinkle Foundation’s week long Camp Periwinkle and weekend YOLO programs for children with cancer all will benefit from YTAC's donation. Additionally, YTAC’s funds will also support The Periwinkle Foundation’sMaking A Mark® program which provides art and creative writing opportunities for patients at the Texas Children’s Hospital during treatments as a therapeutic respite of self expression. On behalf of YTAC and myself, I must sincerely thank all of the Charity Selection Committee members who have donated their time, knowledge and finances to assist in bettering the lives of Texas families that are affected by cancer.I would also like to extend an additional sincere thanks to all of YTAC’s members and donors for their contributions in making our annual $20,000 donation possible. And finally, thank you to founding member, Ryan Gordon, for opening his home to us for this wonderful event.
